as i've said before, I'm not sure i understand why full suss riders get blamed for them. Is it that they both want to go the same speed round the corner, but the HT would be already going that speed anyway and thus wouldn't have to brake?

In motor racing if you don't have to brake for a corner, then you weren't going fast enough on the straight, could the same not be said of this...?

Not really sure I've ever been bothered by them or noticed them, I probably have, but haven't recognised it as one or thought 'ooh there's a braking bump how annoying'. Are they on the north loop of whinlatter, the one with the jumps?

If they do cause a problem there is surely a way of designing the trail such that they don't form. I can't see how there can possibly be any at penmachno for instance.

As above - treatment for type 1 diabetes (i.e. insulin) has barely changed over the years, only the method of administration. If she's a type II then there are newer therapies, but the most effective has (and probably always will be) diet and weight loss.

Of the diabetics I know some watch their glucose like a hawk and never have any problems, others don't worry about it too much and frequently go a bit nuts (hyper/hypo). No offence to you or her but it's probably her own fault.

BTW I'm a scientist researching diabetes and recurrent hypoglycemia in <strike>type I diabetes</strike> patients with type I diabetes

Winter is Ok until the roads get icy-stay off road then on nice firm trails
Don't mind the winter as it is a good opportunity to train hard and gain a bit on the competition. Quiet roads at night are fine with some good lights as well. Then there is the cross to fill the gaps in.Midlands races kick off proper on the 19th although mid week flood light races already started

Went to a ride in Swinley couple of years ago, apparently it was minus seven. Good fun though, and the ride flowed nicely because we all needed to keep moving. Twas proper bastard cold though.

Can't be doing with this pissing rain though. Watered the plants last night, 'cos it's been dry the last few days. What does it do today? Piss it down. Listen to it; it's flippin biblical out there!

Griff Rhys Jones: Worked in an architects in Soho we used to get a few tv types in. (he was a bit grumpy, just gave me a look like: don't you dare recognise me!)

Jenny Agutter: She came in the architects once too and everyone crowded round...she was just lovely!

Yngwie Malmsteen: (guitarist) Went to an aftershow party and met him after a gig. Despite his rep he was nice enough...

Joe Lynn Turner: (singer in Rainbow) At the party above (we were gatecrashing) he came over and introduced himself. Really nice bloke!

Ed Wynne (from the Ozric Tentacles) I saw him with his face pressed up against the glass looking at pedals in a totenham court road music shop window. He seemed quite surprised to be recognised but was very nice.

Shimano XTR Front Derailleur Top Swing FD-M970.

Very light use and as such is in near-mint condition, just a bit of very light scuffage to the cage from shifting, but the rest of it looks box-fresh. 34.9, but probably got the shims (somewhere) to reduce to 31.8.

The people I know who've gotten into trouble with their diabetes (often, rather than the occasional misfortune or oversight on food or medication) have done so simply because they've gotten bored with the rigor needed in terms of eating and medicating. They get resentful of it all and let things go wrong almost as a way of having time off from being continually observant.

If she's managed to stay on top of the condition in the past then maybe your partner's sister simply needs cheering up or motivating. If thats not the case then maybe there is a clash between her work/circumstances/ lifestyle and the action she needs to take to manage her condition

It's my fault.

Actually I've had a think about it and read some people's comments, and I sort of get it now. You can just park up wherever you feel like, not have to worry about mucking about with tents and that really, and have a mini hotel sort of thing. Yeah, I can see the appeal. I spose you can stay in more remote locations than you might find a hotel in. And it would be warmer than a tent, in colder months. And if you or a family member/friend had any particular health/mobility issues, then it makes camping actually possible. Yeah, that makes sense to me.

I think most folk would agree it's a lot of money, mind! But fair enough if that's what you want to do. We're all different. I'm a sybarite who likes hotels and stuff done for me! I'd quite like to camp out in a nice vayn though now and then.

I want one now.
